Availability

I am currently available for short-term contracts, open-source development, voluntary and freelance web development. Please read my cv and contact me if you are interested in working with me.

Unavailable: I’m currently very busy and can’t take on any jobs at present… sorry about that.

Note to Agents

Dear Agents,

Although I acknowledge you perform a useful and difficult task, one that I could certainly not do, please consider the following things before you get in touch:

  1. Nobody likes receiving a blanket message, but at the very least, make sure you put the recipients into the BCC field, so that you protect everyone’s data.
  2. After the folk who try to sell me those pills which will triple the length of my member, the second-most likely source of spam e-mail are agents who e-mail me the same position multiple times, often within a few minutes of each other. Can this be avoided?
  3. Please note that I am not interested in a permanent role. In other words, I am not interested in a permanent role, interested not am I in a role permanent, role not permanent am I interested in a…
  4. Please take a few moments to look over the site, or read the CV (I know it needs updating) and decide whether I am suitable for jobs other than web development with Ruby on Rails.
  5. Do you think that any combination of the abbreviation e for electronic, with some positive buzzword such as ‘paradigm’, ‘synergy’ or ‘power’ in your company name mean anything credible to anyone other than the marketeer who invented it? Instead, mentioning something specific about the role is more likely to engage me than the prospect of working with your organisation.
  6. I don’t wish my LinkedIn profile to become diluted with followers, that’s what my arms-length Twitter account is for. Rather than trying to link to me with LinkedIn, even before we’ve worked together, why not follow me on Twitter and see if I make any availability updates?

I hope these observations are taken in good faith are not too critical. Thanks for your co-operation.
